Leading Marks is pleased to offer its own system which uses steel type characters to emboss foil tape. The Boss Buddy is designed to improve the efficiency of creating embossed pattern labels for date codes, heat numbers, order numbers and other traceable identification. It is designed to emboss foil and stainless steel tape. The impact press insures consistent definition of the characters with one stroke of the press. The Boss Buddy makes it simple to produce pattern labels. With consistently embossed characters the end-results provide better legibility of heat numbers, date codes and other traceable cast in identification of cast products. |
Product Overview
The Boss Buddy embossing packages are designed to add efficiency of the pattern shop. Pattern labels are created with ease to quickly produce the daily pours identifying date codes, heat numbers, order numbers and other traceable identification.

The Boss Buddy is designed to emboss foil and stainless steel tape. The impact press insures consistent definition of the characters with one stroke of the press. Other technologies used for this purpose create the character one character at a time using value shop resources and yielding labels with variably defined characters.
The Boss Buddy accessory package easily installs on the base of a spring-loaded impact press. It includes a feed arrangement that uses manual knobs to guide the foil tape over the type chase fixture and to the opposite side where the foil is cut-off upon the creation of the desired number of legends. |

Alternative packages are available for embossing aluminum and stainless steel tags that can be applied to ingots, bars, bins and more.

The semi- automated "Boss Buddy+ "
The same proven process of the Manual Boss Buddy, the Boss Buddy+ system is a semi-automatic arrangement for high volume requirements. It can repeat legends improving cycle time in an almost hands-off workstation. The operator manually sets the messages to be embossed into foil tape.

Common messages include date codes, heat numbers, lot or batch id, and like details helping with the traceability process. PLC programming allows for automating the process for the number of messages to make, message length and spacing between labels.

Aluminum Tape
The 5-mil Aluminum tape with rugged adhesive creates cast impressions with more definition and offers better legibility for the life of the casting. Flat surface applications are well served and the tape proves more pliable on curved surfaces. This tape is easily removed from patterns when the casting process is complete.
